Defense Express reported the information.According to new intelligence from Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, Russia has set an ambitious production target of 79,000 drones for 2025, including 40,000 Geran-2 units, 5,700 Garpiya-1 variants, and approximately 34,000 decoy drones called Gerbera. Deputy Chief Vadym Skibitskyi revealed these figures during a recent interview, marking the first time production numbers from the Izhevsk Kupol facility have been disclosed. The intelligence assessment shows Russia's drone manufacturing has steadily increased throughout 2024, reaching 2,000 units per month by year's end and climbing to 2,700 monthly by May 2025. If this linear growth continues, production could hit 4,000 drones per month by fall and nearly 5,000 by December - translating to roughly 130-140 daily units in autumn and 160-170 in winter. These projections fall significantly short of the feared 1,000-drone daily production rate that has sparked concern among defense analysts. Even accounting for decoy drones, which could comprise up to 40% of total output, Russia's actual combat-capable drone production remains well below the thousand-per-day threshold. However, the increased production capacity does allow Russia greater tactical flexibility. While current stockpiling requires approximately 10-day pauses between major drone assault waves, winter production levels could reduce this interval to just six days, enabling more frequent large-scale attacks on Ukrainian targets. The intelligence also revealed operational differences between drone variants, with Garpiya-1 units manufactured in Izhevsk using different components and assembly methods compared to Geran-2 drones produced in Alabuga, Tatarstan. The Special Operations Center A of the Ukrainian Security Service used long-range drones to strike a logistics center in Tatarstan where ready-to-use Shaheds and foreign components for them are stored.
