The statement comes as U.S. President Donald Trump prepares to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday. Reports suggest Putin may demand significant Ukrainian territory as part of a peace deal. Zelenskyy’s own participation in the meeting has not been confirmed. In a message posted on X, Zelenskyy highlighted the ongoing intensity of the war, noting 137 combat clashes occurred on the front line in just the past 24 hours. He said Russia shows no sign of easing its military pressure or accounting for its losses.“Russia is dragging out the war, and therefore it deserves stronger global pressure,” Zelenskyy wrote. “Russia refuses to stop the killings, and therefore must not receive any rewards or benefits. And this is not just a moral position – it is a rational one. Concessions do not persuade a killer. But truly strong protection of life stops the killers.”Trump earlier announced he would meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15.Two sources speaking to U.S. broadcaster CNN suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might take part in the Alaska summit, but emphasized that the U.S. and Russian leaders would first meet without him.
