Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications reported the information.Witnesses reported that the company’s critical infrastructure was targeted. The cyberattack shut down ticket payment and validation systems, disabled cashier and dispatcher computers, knocked out servers and network equipment, and damaged dispatching systems along the Moscow–Tver line. The disruption threatens to halt rail service between Russia’s two largest cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg.According to the Center for Strategic Communications, the company is facing daily losses of at least 20 million rubles. Businesses whose employees are unable to get to work stand to lose even more, as recovery could take days or even weeks. Overall damages are estimated at between $3 million and $10 million.“This is already the second large-scale attack on Moscow’s transportation system in the past two weeks — hundreds of commuter trains have been delayed. Last week, Aeroflot’s entire IT infrastructure was completely destroyed. Meanwhile, Russia continues to sustain drone and missile strikes on its railway facilities,” the Center for Strategic Communications said.On July 28, Russia’s largest airline, Aeroflot, canceled over 40 flights due to a major disruption in its information systems. Hacker groups Silent Crow and Belarusian Cyber Partisans BY claimed responsibility, stating they spent a year infiltrating Aeroflot’s systems and destroyed or disabled thousands of servers.
