The Financial Times reported the information. As part of the plan, the port is reserving docks for military cargo and working on ways to redirect commercial shipments if fighting breaks out.Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, said they’re coordinating with Antwerp, Belgium, to handle logistics together if war starts. Not every terminal can handle military cargo, he said. If we they need to move large amounts of gear, they will use Antwerp or other ports to share the load, and they’ll do the same. He also pointed out that they don’t see each other as rivals as much anymore: they compete when needed, but cooperate when they can.Siemons said one or more military ships are expected to dock at the port for several weeks, four or five times a year, though the location may vary. The port also plans to hold marine landing exercises several times a year.Last week, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the Alliance still lacks the industrial capacity to produce enough modern weapons to deter aggressor states effectively.
