The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported the information.According to geolocated videos from July 6 and 7, the Russian troops have recently advanced to the northeast and south of the settlement of Novoekonomichne (east of Pokrovsk) during a platoon-level mechanized attack.Russian military correspondents also claim that their forces have advanced northwest of Koptieve, west of Myrne, and southwest of Myroliubivka—all these areas are located east and northeast of Pokrovsk. Russian troops appear to have resumed offensive operations in the area northeast of Pokrovsk toward Dobropillia.According to ISW analysts, these advances aim to create conditions for the encirclement of Pokrovsk and, in the long term, Kostiantynivka, which is part of Ukraine’s fortified defensive line.Since June 2025, the Russians have not made significant progress west of Toretsk toward Kostiantynivka, so the Russian command has likely temporarily deprioritized this direction in favor of more promising advances near Pokrovsk. One of the Russian military correspondents reported that earlier, Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to break into Novoekonomichne from the east but managed to enter the settlement from the south. Over the past two months, they have had difficulties advancing in this area due to active defense and counterattacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.Going forward, Russian forces will likely try to build on their success toward Rodynske and force Ukrainian troops to withdraw from Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad under the threat of encirclement, before refocusing on Kostiantynivka.According to the General Staff, there were 188 combat engagements on the Russian-Ukrainian front over the past day, July 7. In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army tried 68 times to push back the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
