The Independent reports.During a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of their teams, a journalist asked Trump if he planned to provide Ukraine with more weapons. He answered in the affirmative.“We have to, they have to be able to defend themselves,” the president said. “They're getting hit very hard. Now they're getting hit very hard. We're going to have to send more weapons, defensive weapons, primarily, but they're getting hit very, very hard,” said the U.S. President. He added that “so many people” were “dying in that mess.”Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell issued a statement on additional military aid to Ukraine. He emphasized that, under President Trump's directive, the Department of Defense is sending additional defensive weapons to Ukraine to help Ukrainians defend themselves while efforts are underway to secure a lasting peace and end the bloodshed.Parnell added that the current system for assessing US military supplies remains unchanged and meets the priorities of the America First defense policy.BackgroundOn July 2, it became known that the United States has suspended deliveries of certain air defense missiles and precision-guided munitions to Ukraine over concerns about shrinking U.S. stockpiles. The next day it was revealed, the U.S. Department of Defense continues to provide President Donald Trump with recommendations on military aid to Ukraine.Later the media wrote, U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, single-handedly ordered a halt to certain arms supplies to Ukraine, even though analyses showed these shipments wouldn't jeopardize the readiness of U.S. stocks.
