Trilateral talks between the delegations of Ukraine, the United States and Türkiye are starting in Istanbul.

Details:Trilateral talks between the delegations of Ukraine, the United States and Türkiye began in Istanbul on Friday 16 May.

The Ukrainian side is represented by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and the head of the Office of the President Andrii Yermak, the US side by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the Turkish side by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, as evidenced by the video published by the Foreign Ministry.

Background:

• Earlier, the Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency published a schedule of meetings in Istanbul with the delegations of Ukraine, the United States, Türkiye and Russia.
• Russia sent a low-level delegation led by Putin's aide, Vladimir Medinsky. Nevertheless, Zelenskyy sent a Ukrainian delegation led by Defence Minister Rustem Umierov to Istanbul for talks. In total, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed 12 people to the delegation.
