Trump's special envoy for Ukraine: Kyiv-Washington relations back on track

Keith Kellogg, US President Donald Trumps Special Envoy for Ukraine, has praised the resumption of talks between Washington and Kyiv on a minerals deal.
Source The Times, as reported by European Pravda Details Kellogg said that the relations between Washington and Kyiv are back on track, as evidenced by the resumption of talks on a proposed minerals agreement.
A technical team of Ukrainian officials arrived in Washington on Friday to discuss the deal, which aims to give America significant access to Ukraines vast reserves of critical minerals such as lithium, titanium and uranium in exchange for continued US support and investment in the countrys postwar recovery.
Kellogg acknowledged that US officials underestimated what was involved in securing the deal.
Kellogg said that it was not a matter of a simple yes or no.
Kellogg explained that the final decision on whether America would be able to access the countrys critical mineral resources would be made by the Verkhovna Rada Ukrainian parliament.
He also added that the Trump administration acknowledged that no one knew what minerals were available in Ukraine and what their value was.
He stressed that the last time geological exploration was carried out was back in the Soviet Union.
According to Kellogg, the officials visiting Washington will work to resolve these difficulties in the coming days and try to turn a business deal into a diplomatic deal.
Background Earlier, European Pravda reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump had returned to the version of the subsoil agreement a requirement for Ukraine to reimburse all the assistance that the US provided after the start of Russias fullscale invasion in 2022.
