Zelenskyy honours memory of victims of Russian strike on 4 April in his hometown Kryvyi Rih – video

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has honoured the memory of those killed in the Russian ballistic strike on 4 April during a visit to Kryvyi Rih, his hometown.

Details: Zelenskyy’s press service released a video showing the president placing a memorial candle and a toy at the site where a missile hit a children’s playground.
Zelenskyy stressed that the crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainians must never be forgotten. He added that the whole world should remember that human life means nothing for Russia.
On 4 April, a Russian ballistic missile struck right next to apartment buildings and a children's playground – right on the street – taking the lives of 19 people, 9 of them children.

Background:
- On the afternoon of 4 April, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on the city of Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, hitting an area near residential buildings and a children’s playground. The attack killed 19 people, including 9 children. The youngest was three years old. Another 75 civilians were injured, including 17 children. Doctors are currently fighting to save the lives of those wounded.
- During the rescue operation, which began immediately after the missile strike, Russia carried out an additional drone attack on residential buildings and infrastructure. This second strike killed one person and injured five others.
- A total of 60 apartment buildings, 23 houses and 3 educational institutions in the city were damaged.
