Source European Pravda with reference to the statement of the Norwegian governments press service Details Norway is providing NOK 4 billion for the Czech initiative to buy artillery shells for Ukraine worldwide.
Norway also provided funds for the Czech initiative in 2024. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stre noted that this is one of the key needs for the Ukrainian army, so Norway is making its contribution. Another NOK 1 billion is being provided for the European Peace Fund, through which the EU also finances military aid for Ukraine, the contribution will also be used for artillery ammunition.
Norway and the EU have established close, effective cooperation on military assistance to Ukraine.
Our contribution to the European Peace Facility and the joint support for the Czechled ammunition initiative demonstrate that Europe continues to stand together with Ukraine, Stre said.
Prior to that, Norway supported Ukraines purchase of ammunition from Norwegian manufacturers in cooperation with other Northern European countries, as well as transferring shells from its warehouses and sharing technology so that shells could be produced in Ukraine under licence. Background In early March, Norway agreed to increase aid to Ukraine by NOK 50 billion about US4.6 billion in 2025, up to NOK 85 billion about US7.8 billion.
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsk said last week that the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine has enough resources to ensure monthly supplies until September 2025.
