NATO chief explains his vision of "lasting peace" for Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has stated that he would consider lasting peace for Ukraine to be a situation in which Russia would not dare to launch a new attack.
Source Rutte during a briefing in Brussels on 4 April, as reported by European Pravda Details Rutte was asked what he means by lasting peace for Ukraine in the context of discussions about ending the current phase of the war.

Details Rutte went on to say that the current efforts of many NATO member states are focused precisely on providing Ukraine with what it needs to continue resisting mentioning direct aid deliveries, the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine worldwide, and allied investments in weapons production by the Ukrainian defence industry, as well as the training of Ukrainian troops by Western instructors.
Rutte also reiterated the ongoing negotiations in the coalition of the willing format led by France and the United Kingdom.
Background Earlier, Rutte reported that in the first three months of 2025, NATO member states had provided Ukraine with military assistance worth over US20 billion.
Rutte said the Russian threat to NATO territory will not disappear after peace is made with Ukraine.
