At the moment, no breakthrough of the Ukrainian border by Russian troops has been recorded in Sumy Oblast, but small Russian assault groups continue to operate.
Source Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, during a national joint 24/7 newscast Quote At the moment, despite Russias claims that they have broken through the Ukrainian border, this is not the case in Sumy Oblast.
In fact, the enemy continues to use small assault groups.
Details Demchenko explained that opposite the territory of Russias Kursk Oblast occupied by Ukraines defence forces, the Russians have amassed their forces quite large in terms of personnel and equipment, with the use of which they are trying to drive Ukrainian troops out of Kursk Oblast.
The enemy is trying to use the same forces, but in the form of small assault groups, towards Novenke and Zhuravka.
I cannot rule out that the enemy will try to use the same tactics towards other settlements, in fact trying to expand the combat zone along the border or on the territory of Ukraine, said the spokesman.
He noted that the enemy is not currently using equipment and armoured vehicles towards the Ukrainian border.
For example, some time ago, in the vicinity of Zhuravka, the enemy also tried to break through our border using convoys of vehicles, and then, on the outskirts of the border, these convoys were destroyed along with the assault groups, said Demchenko.
He also noted that no attempts by sabotage groups to enter Chernihiv Oblast from the territory of the Russian Federation were recorded this year, although last year there was such activity.
Currently, subversive groups are most active in Sumy Oblast.
Earlier, we recorded attempts by such subversive groups in the north of Sumy Oblast, closer to Chernihiv Oblast, but over the past few weeks, several attempts have been recorded in areas closer to Kharkiv Oblast, the spokesman said.
He added that there is currently no strike group in Belarus that could pose a threat to Ukraine.
Earlier on Saturday, Russias Ministry of Defence announced the alleged occupation of the village of Veselivka in Sumy Oblast.
