The town of Bucha has announced the winner of an architectural competition to design a memorial at the Church of St Andrew the FirstCalled, where 116 innocent people were buried in a mass grave during the Russian occupation of Bucha.

The corridor, which leads underground before returning to the light, reflects the journey people have taken from fear to hope, the mayor explained.
An artificial pond will be located next to the memorial, with plaques bearing the names of the deceased along its shores.
Each plaque will be accompanied by a light that will shine at night like a memory that never fades away.
