President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the European Union needs to develop an approach to prevent individuals from blocking decisions that are important for the entire continent.
Source Zelenskyy in an address to EU leaders gathered for a summit in Brussels, as reported by European Pravda Details Zelenskyy described the approach when one person blocks decisions that are important for the entire continent or that have already been agreed upon as antiEuropean.
And Im talking about Ukraines EU accession talks and resolving some fundamental issues for European unity, the Ukrainian president said.
Apparently, he was referring to the fact that Hungary has blocked the opening of the first negotiation cluster and is demanding that the list of requirements for Ukraine be expanded.
Ukraine fulfilled the requirements, but right now, there are serious difficulties in opening Ukraines first and other, of course, other negotiation clusters for EU accession.
European efforts that should be bringing more security and peace are also constantly being obstructed.
And I believe this is wrong, Zelenskyy stressed.
He noted that Europe must have a way to prevent individual actors from blocking whats necessary for all.
If we say Europe should be stronger in global competition, we must also talk about making European decisionmaking faster, more flexible, more effective whether in politics, defence, economics, industry, or any other area.
Europe needs speed in making decisions and clear tools to protect itself from unnecessary blockages, Zelenskyy said.
Background Notably, Orbn has announced a nationwide poll regarding support for Ukraines accession to the EU.
In a list of 12 requirements for Brussels released last week, he said that the EU should be a Union but without Ukraine.
