South Korean companies have proposed a new asphalt laying technology to Ukraine, which has been patented in the country.

Details: Serhii Sukhomlyn, the head of the agency, discussed cooperation in the road industry with representatives of POSCO International Corporation and the SG company.

POSCO is the largest steelmaking company in South Korea. It announced its interest in Ukraine's recovery back in 2023.

"This technology has been in use for 10 years in the Republic of Korea and has proven its effectiveness during this period. It generates less noise, less dust on the roads and minimal surface damage. Plus, it is much cheaper. The Agency for Restoration is interested in such cooperation," Sukhomlyn said.

Only the top layer of the surface is replaced with this technology, using slag instead of crushed stone.

The SG company is conducting the necessary calculations and preparing to certify the formula.

After completing these stages, they plan to conduct a trial coating of a section of a road in Ukraine using the Korean technology. The agency hopes this will take place in the spring.
