Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States, pledged to build a strong US military and counter wars around the world in his inaugural address on Monday, 20 January.

Details The US president stated his aspiration to be a peacemaker and a unifier, adding that under his presidency, the United States will reclaim its rightful place as the greatest, most powerful, most respected nation on earth, inspiring the awe and admiration of the entire world.
Regarding foreign policy, Trump vowed to regain control of the Panama Canal, which he claims is being operated by China and to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.
Notably, Trump made no mention of his intentions to seize Greenland, transform Canada into the 51st American state.
Nor did he talk about Ukraine or Russias fullscale invasion.
In his inaugural address, Trump also proclaimed the beginning of the golden age of America.
Background Donald Trump has become the second US president in history to serve two nonconsecutive terms.
By the end of his second term, he will be 82 years old, making him the oldest president in US history.
It was previously reported that on his first day back in office, Trump plans to sign several executive orders, including reinstating the federal death penalty and mandating that official documents require citizens to indicate their gender as assigned at birth.
