Poland scrambled its military aircraft in response to Russias massive missile attack on the territory of Ukraine on the morning of Wednesday, 15 January.
Source European Pravda, citing a post by Polands Ministry of Defence Details The Polish military stated that in connection with the attack carried out by the Russian Federation, which aims to strike targets located, in particular, in western Ukraine, military aircraft have been scrambled in our airspace.
Consequently, the Polish Operational Command has activated all the forces and means at its disposal, launched another pair of fighter jets, and put groundbased air defence and radar reconnaissance assets on high alert.
The military stressed that they had taken measures to secure the territories bordering the areas under threat.
The operational command of Polands Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and means are in full readiness for immediate response, they concluded.
Background On the morning of 15 January, an airraid warning was issued throughout Ukraine due to a missile threat.
The vast majority of missiles are moving to the west of Ukraine. The last time Poland scrambled its aircraft because of missile attacks on Ukraine was on 25 December 2024.
At that time, the foreign ministers of the Netherlands and Latvia stressed that Russias demonstrative attacks on Ukraines energy system on Christmas Day showed that the Kremlin was not seeking peace.
