Russian energy giant Gazprom teaches employees Turkish and relocates them and families out of Europe, Russian newspaper says

Nearly all employees of Russian energy giant Gazprom, who work on the Nord Stream and Turkish Stream gas pipelines, left the European Union last year.

Last year, Gazprom employees rushed to learn Turkish, with the company arranging language courses.
By the end of the year, they were looking for flats in Istanbul and moving their belongings and families.
Not only Russian citizens but also residents of EU countries who worked for Gazprom are reportedly leaving Europe.
The newspaper reports that last year, Gazprom employees assisted in dealing with the aftermath of the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosion many European companies declined to participate in the response due to sanctions and continued to manage the Turkish Stream operations through a Dutch company.
However, their efforts were hindered by sanctions imposed on the management of European companies and the firms themselves.
Gazprom also lost companies in Germany Securing Energy for Europe GmbH and in the United Kingdom Gazprom Marketing amp Trading, with their assets being nationalised.
Last year, the Russian monopoly liquidated two Dutch companies Gazprom Sakhalin Holdings B.V.
and Gazprom Finance B.V.
The former held Gazproms stake in the Sakhalin2 project operator.
Both entities, as noted by Russias Ministry of Finance, allowed for tax payments at an effective rate of 23 and enabled profits to be withdrawn from Russia.
However, this benefit ceased after Russias double taxation treaty with the Netherlands was terminated.
Gazprom subsequently transferred the assets registered under these companies to Russian jurisdiction.
Since transit through Ukraine ceased at the beginning of 2025, Gazprom is left with just one of its five prewar gas delivery routes to Europe the Turkish Stream.
