Ukrainian defenders kill 15,000 Russian soldiers during 5 months operation in Kursk Oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that Russian losses amount to more than 38,000 soldiers over five months of operations in Kursk Oblast, including approximately 15,000 killed.

Quote : "The total losses of the occupiers in manpower amounted to more than 38,000 over five months of active combat, including approximately 15,000 killed.

Ukrainian forces destroyed: 104 tanks, 575 armoured combat vehicles, 1,104 vehicles, 330 artillery systems, 12 multiple-launch rocket systems, 12 air defence systems, 1 aircraft, 3 helicopters, 859 UAVs and 32 pieces of other equipment.

Ukrainian forces captured 860 Russian soldiers during the operation, significantly replenishing the prisoner-of-war swap pool."

Details:The General Staff noted that the Kursk operation aimed to prevent a Russian offensive in Sumy Oblast and the creation of a "buffer zone".

Quote : "Russia was also forced to urgently request assistance from North Korea, which sent nearly 12,000 soldiers. Around 4,000 of them have been killed or wounded and some units have lost their combat effectiveness."

Background:President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Monday, 6 January, that Ukraine continues to maintain a buffer zone in Russia's Kursk Oblast five months after launching the operation.
