A Russian attack caused damage to Kherson State Universitys building.
The universitys walls and classrooms were damaged, windows and doors shattered.

Other parts of the building were less severely damaged, with windows and doors smashed in the Russian bombardment.
Oleksandr Spivakovskyi, the universitys rector, stated that the attack destroyed the gallery of prior heads of Kherson State University, which has a 107year history.

Background On 5 January, Russian troops attacked Kherson, in particular its suburbs, Korabelnyi and Dniprovskyi districts.
As of the evening of 5 January, six people were reported injured in the attack on Kherson, and one was killed in Komyshany.
In addition, at least 22 civilian objects were damaged in the oblast, including houses, administrative buildings, garages and vehicles.
Oleksandr Prokudin said that the Russian military had targeted critical and social infrastructure, as well as residential areas.
Kherson Oblast Prosecutors Office reports that the Russian troops used artillery, mortars and drones against the population of the region. Law enforcers have launched an investigation into war crimes under Article 438 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
