Following talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Taeyul in Seoul, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has stated that Russia is prepared to supply North Korea DPRK with advanced space and satellite technologies in return for weapons and equipment to aid its war efforts in Ukraine.
Source European Pravda, citing South Korean news agency Yonhap Quote from Blinken We have reasons to believe that Moscow intends to share advanced space and satellite technology with Pyongyang.
Details Blinken pointed out that the cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang is a matter of concern for the United States and its key allies, such as South Korea and Japan.
He stressed that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin may be close to reversing a decadeslong policy by accepting DPRKs nuclear weapons programme.
That concern is very much a focus, not only for the United States, but also Korea and Japan, Blinken said.
The US secretary of state noted that North Koreas close alliance with Russia underscores the need for greater security cooperation between the US, South Korea, Japan and NATO as security in the IndoPacific and Europe becomes increasingly interconnected.
Notably, during Blinkens visit to Seoul, North Korea launched an intermediaterange ballistic missile that travelled over 1,100 km east before landing in the sea, the South Korean military said.
Previously US intelligence services believe that the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia was North Koreas idea, not Russias.
The Pentagon had previously predicted an increase in casualties among the North Korean military which continues to take part in the fighting in Russias Kursk Oblast, where Ukrainian forces are conducting operations.
