Majority of Germans support deployment of peacekeepers to Ukraine – poll

Over half of German residents 54 believe peacekeepers should be sent to Ukraine in case of a ceasefire.
Source Deutsche Welle, a German international broadcaster and media outlet, citing a YouGov poll commissioned by the dpa news agency, as reported by European Pravda Details The survey also showed that a further 19 of respondents are fundamentally opposed to sending peacekeepers to Ukraine, while 25 have not decided on their answer.
At the same time, support for Germanys participation in these peacekeeping efforts is much lower only 23 of respondents are in favour of German soldiers taking part in such a mission.
Another 33 of German respondents are against the involvement of German troops.
The poll was conducted online from 20 to 23 December, with 2,194 people from all over Germany taking part.
Background President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the possibility of deploying a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine, aimed at deterring further Russian aggression, was discussed during meetings in Brussels in December.
He added that he was already noticing positive responses from certain leaders in this regard.
In an address to EU leaders, the president expressed support for this idea from French President Emmanuel Macron and called on other partners to join in.
