A married couple of scientists, Ihor Zyma and Olesia Sokur, were killed in a Russian drone attack on the city of Kyiv on the morning of 1 January.

The couple dedicated nearly their entire lives to science, having worked for many years at the Institute of Biology and Medicine at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
