Ukrainian air defence downs 63 Russian drones overnight, 46 more disappear from radar

The Russians bombarded Ukraine with 111 Shahed attack drones and other types of UAVs on the night of 31 December1 January.
Ukrainian air defence destroyed 63 drones, while 46 more failed to reach their targets.

Due to the active counteraction of the Ukrainian defence forces, 46 enemy decoy drones disappeared from radar without negative consequences, and two more flew to Russia and Belarus.
Details It is reported that the Russians launched the drones from the Russian cities of Bryansk, Oryol and PrimorskoAkhtarsk and temporarily occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, antiaircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Ukrainian defence forces.

An airraid warning was issued in the capital and several oblasts of Ukraine due to Russian attack drones approaching from the northeast.

On the morning of 1 January, pieces of a Russian drone fell on a residential building in Kyivs Pecherskyi district, partially destroying the top two floors and causing a fire.
A nonresidential building is on fire in Kyivs Sviatoshynskyi district, and a tram track was damaged.
Six people were injured.
