The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, came out to the protesters who gathered on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, protesting against the parliaments approval of Mikheil Kavelashvili as the new president.
Source European Pravda citing Georgian news outlet Sova Details Zourabichvili wished the demonstrators a peaceful evening and called for preventing provocations during the protests.
Salome Zourabichvili told the protesters that the Christmas tree lighting would not take place that night.
She urged them to stay united and peaceful, emphasising her solidarity by stating that her thoughts and prayers were with them.
She also assured them that no provocations would be allowed.

Photo Interpressnews Background Earlier on Saturday, Georgias presidential election, which was not held by direct popular vote for the first time, saw the only candidate nominated by the ruling party, exfootballer Mikheil Kavelashvili, elected president.
Zourabichvili, the current president, considers the vote illegitimate and does not recognise its results.
