Coffin prices in Russia rise by 74% since start of full-scale war

The cost of manufacturing coffins in Russia has surged by 74 since the beginning of Russias fullscale invasion of Ukraine.
Source The Moscow Times, citing Rosstat, Russias Federal State Statistics Service Details As of October 2024, the average price of a coffin in Russia reached RUB 7,711 approximately US76, compared to RUB 4,437 approximately US44 in January 2022.
A significant increase in coffin prices began in the initial months of the invasion.
Between February and August 2022, production costs rose by 12, or RUB 548 approximately US5,4.
Another spike in funeral inflation followed shortly after the announcement of mobilisation in September 2022, a coffin cost RUB 4,998 approximately US49, but by February 2023, the price rose to RUB 6,669 approximately US65,5 a 33 increase.
Overall, coffin prices rose by 48 in 2022, nearly 12 in 2023, and an additional 10 in the first nine months of 2024.
In some regions, coffin prices have more than doubled.
For example Sakhalin Oblast 181 increase, Omsk Oblast 162, Tambov Oblast 104, Smolensk Oblast 103 2023 data.
