Former foreign minister of Ukraine finds employment in US

Dmytro Kuleba, the former minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine, has become a senior fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School in Harvard.

Source: statement of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, as reported by European Pravda

Details: The Belfer Center reports that Kuleba, who served as Ukraine's top diplomat during the first 2.5 years of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, is "internationally recognised as one of the most influential diplomats of his generation and a global champion for democracy, freedom, and resilience."

Quote from  Belfer Center: "His appointment underscores the Belfer Center’s commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges in an era of deep geopolitical uncertainty."

Quote from Megan L. O'Sullivan, Director of the Belfer Center: "Dmytro Kuleba has been a central figure in how Ukraine and the international community has dealt with one of the greatest challenges to the nearly 80-year-old liberal international order and Europe’s largest land-based war since World War Two."

Megan L. O'Sullivan said Kuleba’s appointment to the Belfer Center underscores the institution's mission to prepare the next generation of leaders who can understand and navigate a complex and rapidly changing world.

Quote from Megan L. O'Sullivan:"His presence will be an inspiration to our students and a vital resource to our academic community."

At the Belfer Center, Kuleba will focus on the intersection of diplomacy, security and resilience, exploring strategies to counter autocracy, strengthen democratic institutions and build sustainable international coalitions.

Kuleba will interact with Harvard Kennedy School students, faculty and fellows through seminars, lectures and mentorships.

Background:

  • Ukrainian MPs supported the dismissal of Dmytro Kuleba from the post of foreign minister on 5 September.
  • At the same time, on 5 September, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) voted to appoint Andrii Sybiha as the next foreign minister.
