Russia sharply reduces production plans for engines of import-substituted aircraft

The Russian authorities have cut the production plan for engines for SSJ100, MS21 and Tu214 aircraft by 1.5 times.
Instead of 192 power units, aircraft manufacturers will receive only 128 units over the next two years.
Source The Moscow Times, citing Russian news agency Izvestia Details The Russian government added an explanatory note to the resolution, which indicates that 24 engines are planned for assembly in 2025 6 PD8, 7 PD14 and 11 PS90 and 104 engines in 2026 44 PD8, 28 PD14 and 32 PS90.
In 2024, the United Engine Corporation UEC was expected to deliver 12 PD14 engines to customers but managed to produce only two.
Additionally, the PD8 engine has not yet passed certification.
Quote PD8 engines are designed for importsubstituted SSJ100 aircraft two per plane.
PD14 engines are used for MS21310 two per plane and PS90A engines are utilized for Tu214 two per plane and Il96300 four per aircraft, explained Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of Aviaport.
Based on these figures, Panteleev estimates that by the end of 2026, Russia may produce up to 25 SSJNew aircraft and up to 17 MS21 multipurpose airliners.
