Details: Lubinets said that during the meeting the sides handed over 2,000 parcels of humanitarian aid for Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) and letters from their relatives. They also reached agreements on verifying people missing under special circumstances and exchanged the relevant lists. Lists of seriously wounded and seriously ill people were also handed over. The sides discussed the return of unlawfully detained Ukrainian civilians, issues relating to Ukrainian POWs convicted in Russia and other humanitarian matters.
In addition, following sustained, systematic work, a process of mutual family reunification has been carried out. Fifteen citizens have been brought back to Ukraine from Russia and temporarily occupied territories, most of whom have limited mobility.
Lubinets told about a 56-year-old woman who suffered a stroke and had been in Russia since 2022. He said that after her daughter contacted the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, arrangements were made to bring her back and mother and daughter saw each other for the first time in almost four years.
Lubinets also said that a further 45 Ukrainian citizens have been brought back home from temporary detention centres for foreigners on Russian territory.
