Ukraine has chance to rapidly progress in accession talks after Orbán veto lifted

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the solution chosen by the EU has given Ukraine, in the longer term, a chance to open and close negotiation clusters rapidly as soon as Hungary's veto ceases to be an obstacle to the formal procedure.

Details: On 11 December, Ukraine was given all the data it needed for further technical negotiations with the European Commission on three clusters at once. This already allows Kyiv to start doing its "homework" on each of them without wasting time.
Moreover, Kyiv can even complete the negotiations before Viktor Orbán's veto is overcome, and later, when the Hungarian problem is resolved, the opening of a cluster and the closing of its chapters may even be simultaneous , provided that by that time Ukraine has already done everything necessary.
"When the Hungarian blockade is lifted – and I am absolutely certain that this will happen – we will be able to open these negotiation clusters very quickly and close them, confirming that Ukraine is ready to join the EU," notes Marie Bjerre, who is responsible for enlargement in the Danish government.
Background: After the opening of technical negotiations, Ukraine and the EU agreed on a priority 10-point reform plan, which includes provisions on anti-corruption and the rule of law.
