Russia comes under large-scale drone attack: 287 UAVs allegedly downed

The Russian Defence Ministry has reported what it called the largest drone attack on the Russian Federation in recent times, claiming that 287 drones have been downed. How many UAVs actually reached their targets has not been disclosed.

Details: The attacks reportedly targeted 11 regions.
In particular, 118 drones were allegedly downed over Bryansk Oblast, 40 over each of Kaluga and Moscow oblasts (32 UAVs headed towards Moscow), 27 over Tula Oblast, 19 over Novgorod Oblast, 11 over Yaroslavl Oblast, 10 over Lipetsk Oblast, 6 over Smolensk Oblast, 5 over each of Kursk and Oryol oblasts, 4 over Voronezh Oblast and 2 over Ryazan Oblast.
The Russians report almost daily that several or several dozen drones attack their territory. Typically, the drones target oil depots, gunpowder and weapons factories and air bases from which the Russian aircraft take off to strike Ukraine.
Previously, the Russian Defence Ministry reported a similar large-scale drone attack on 14 November, claiming that 216 UAVs were intercepted.
Background: On the night of 10-11 December, drones attacked the Russian city of Veliky Novgorod. Early reports indicated that a chemical plant had been hit and a fire had broken out on its grounds.
