Deadlocked talks: what's next?

Now we are entering another zone of turbulence. The main problem is that we do not see even a hint of any game of our own.1. The meeting in London showed that there is no concept in Europe of what to do next. Europe, at most, can allocate some funds. Clearly insufficient for a turning point in the war. Moreover, Europe has a global problem called "security", and Europeans do not know what to do about it."2. Therefore, it seems that a decision will now be made along the lines of "if you don't know what to do, postpone the solution to the problem until later." In our realities, this sounds like: the war continues, money, perhaps, will be available."Europe can only trade one trump card: Europeans own the controlling stake in sanctions. And Russia's return to world geopolitics is impossible without Europe. But this trump card is getting weaker every day amid problems in Europe itself (including ideas of the collapse of the EU) and the collapse of the previous Western-centric world order. 3. Macron's trip to Beijing, which ended almost in an ultimatum, is very indicative here. China began to "assert its rights", and Europe is simply not ready for such a turn of events. The EU is still not ready to accept a new world where there are two hegemons - China and the U.S., who deeply do not care about the issue of values. And this, in turn, finally nullified the agenda that Europe holds so firmly. Both in Beijing and in Washington, they openly say: we want to milk Europe and we will fight for it. Europe does not even imagine what to oppose to this.4. Among the negative aspects, I would also separately highlight the fact that America and Russia are close to singling out bilateral relations into a separate track, separating their own issues and the issue of peace in Ukraine.5. Like it or not, the question: "What's next?" has already begun to sound and it will become one of the main ones on the domestic political agenda.SourceAbout the author: Vadym Denysenko, political scientist. The editorial board does not always share the opinions expressed by the authors of the blogs.
