Quote : "In Pokrovsk, search-and-assault operations and the wiping out of enemy forces in the urban area continue. Taking advantage of thick fog, the occupiers made yet another attempt at a 'flag selfie' in one of the city's districts so that propagandists could use it as evidence of claiming control over all of Pokrovsk. After that, they fled in haste; the mopping-up of enemy groups is ongoing."
Details : The military note that attempts by the Russians to create propagandistic images suggesting they control the city are leading to significant losses in their manpower.
Despite adverse weather conditions, Ukrainian defence forces units continue aerial reconnaissance, fire adjustment and strikes against enemy groups.
According to Operational Command Skhid (East), Ukrainian units are holding defensive lines in Myrnohrad and wiping out Russian forces on the approaches to the city.
"Additional logistical routes to Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad are being organised to ensure an uninterrupted supply of everything our units need," the military said.
Overall, Ukrainian defenders repelled 72 assault operations over the past day on the Pokrovsk front.
Early reports indicate that Ukrainian forces have killed 104 Russian soldiers on this front, 81 of them irreversibly.
Across the entire area of responsibility of Operational Command Skhid (East), the Russians continue to suffer the heaviest losses – 445 Russians over the past day.
Background :
- Russian propagandists previously claimed that Russia's ruler Vladimir Putin had supposedly visited one of the Russians' command posts on 1 December and announced plans to create a "security zone" along the border with Ukraine.
- Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, said that in the coming weeks Russian forces would attempt to increase pressure along the front and accompany this with loud statements.
