Details: On 29 November, Yermak told the FT that he harboured no ill will towards Zelenskyy.
Quote from Yermak: "He was my friend before this job and will be remembered after."
Details: Yermak also said that the Ukrainian delegation he led in Geneva has succeeded in securing a revision of the initial version of the US "peace plan".
"The delegation under my leadership in Geneva, together with our American partners, managed to ensure that the 28-point document no longer exists", said Yermak, referring to the revised "peace plan", which is now more acceptable for Kyiv.
Quote: "A few difficult points remain that need to be agreed upon, and I believe that this is possible."
More details: Yermak is convinced that "in any case, the president – no matter the pressure – will not sign or approve anything that goes against Ukraine's interests".
Background:
- On 28 November, Ukrainska Pravda reported that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) were conducting searches at Yermak's office in the government district. Ukrainska Pravda journalists managed to record around 10 employees from NABU and SAPO entering the government district.
- Yermak confirmed that the search was taking place at his home and said he was ready to assist the investigation. Ukrainska Pravda established that he had not been served with a notice of suspicion as of the morning of 28 November.
- Later, Zelenskyy announced that he had accepted Yermak's resignation from the post of head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and that the institution will now undergo a reboot. Zelenskyy added that he would hold consultations on Yermak's potential successor on 29 November.
- Yermak later said he is joining the armed forces after submitting his resignation. "I'm disgusted by the filth directed at me, and even more disgusted by the lack of support from those who know the truth", he said.
