Details: Tusk is likely the first European top official to comment on the resignations in Ukraine announced on 28 November.
Quote: "Orbán goes to Putin, Nawrocki to Orbán. There is chaos in the negotiations on the 'Witkoff plan' and a political crisis in Kyiv. Fatal combination."
Background:
- On 28 November, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow and once again said he hopes that Budapest would become a venue for peace negotiations over the Russo-Ukrainian war.
- On the evening of the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the dismissal of Andrii Yermak from his post as head of the President's Office. The Ukrainian leader added he would hold consultations on 29 November with those who may lead the Office.
- Following Yermak's resignation, Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian delegation at peace negotiations will consist of Andrii Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and intelligence.
