Vance doubts that financial and military aid to Ukraine will bring victory

US Vice President JD Vance has said that it is essential for the Trump administration that any peace agreement be acceptable to Ukraine, guarantee its sovereignty, and prevent a resumption of the war.

Details : Vance noted that, in the administration's view, any plan to end the Russo-Ukrainian war must, first of all, "stop the killing while preserving Ukraine's sovereignty", be acceptable to both Russia and Ukraine, and "maximise the chances the war doesn't restart".
"Every criticism of the peace framework the administration is working on either misunderstands the framework or misstates some critical reality on the ground," the vice president said.
"There is a fantasy that if we just give more money, more weapons, or more sanctions, victory is at hand.
Peace won't be made by failed diplomats or politicians living in a fantasy land. It might be made by smart people living in the real world," he added.
Trump, for his part, stated that if Ukraine does not like his proposal, it will have to keep fighting and sooner or later will still have to agree to some painful concessions.
