Turkish foreign minister: Russo-Ukrainian war at "perhaps its most difficult moment"

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan believes that the Russo-Ukrainian war is now "perhaps at its most difficult moment" and therefore likely "closest to ending".
Source: Fidan in an interview with Turkish TV channel A Haber, as cited by Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne
Details: Fidan said that, for Turkish diplomacy, both Russia's war against Ukraine and Türkiye's leading role in ceasefire efforts in Gaza, as well as the situation in Syria, remain key and highly relevant issues. He believes that human and political losses in the Russo-Ukrainian war "have gone beyond what is manageable".
He stressed that he assesses the war from a diplomatic – not military – perspective.
Quote: "At this stage, we are talking about the war that is almost ending. (…) Of course, it must be stopped. This has been our policy from the very beginning. But there were very influential circles that did not want it to stop…
Now the US, together with the Trump administration, has essentially come to the same conclusion as we have. European leaders want this as well."
Details: Fidan said the war is "in fact closest to ending" because it is now at "perhaps its most difficult moment". Both sides are concentrating on destroying one another's transport and energy infrastructure and, as he claimed, are no longer striking military targets. Moreover, fighting on the front has turned into a war of drones of various types.
Quote: "No one can move anywhere. Nothing is happening, and only those who do not count their losses are advancing."
Details: When asked whether Türkiye will soon bring representatives of Ukraine and Russia to the table, Fidan replied: "We now believe that a peace table will be formed. Personally, I believe it. For obvious reasons, we cannot go into details. Whether it will happen in Türkiye or elsewhere, I believe that this peace not only must take place, but will take place."
Background: In early November, Fidan stated that Türkiye is ready to host a round of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, as well as a potential summit of leaders in Istanbul.
