"A wall of fire behind the door": mother and son have jumped from window to escape blaze during Russian attack on Kyiv – video

Kyiv resident Inna Vysotska and her 14-year-old son have survived a large-scale Russian strike on the capital by jumping from a first-floor window after flames blocked their apartment's only exit.

Details: Inna Vysotska said that she had heard an explosion on the night of 13-14 November and had run with her son to the front door.
Quote: "When I opened the door, I saw a wall of fire. I locked it and we went back into the apartment."
More details: To escape, they climbed out through a window. Vysotska first helped her son down, then jumped herself. Her neighbours gathered below and tried to catch them. The teenager escaped uninjured, while the mother was hurt.
The family has lost their home in the strike and is now staying with relatives.
Quote: "This is a great tragedy for us all. I am talking not just about myself, but about Ukraine and even the world. For some reason no one can deal with Russia."
Background: Russian forces launched a large-scale combined attack on the city of Kyiv on the night of 13-14 November, using various types of missiles and drones. Seven people had been killed in Kyiv, including Svitlana Vashchenko, a kindergarten teacher.
