State Emergency Service shows aftermath of large-scale Russian combined attack on Kyiv: 1 killed, 24 injured – photos

Russian forces launched a large-scale combined attack on the city of Kyiv on the night of 13-14 November, using various types of missiles and drones. One person has been killed and 24 injured, including a pregnant woman and a child. Widespread destruction and fires have been recorded in residential buildings and civilian infrastructure across almost all districts of the capital.

Details: Kyiv City Military Administration reported that the number of people injured in the overnight attack had risen to 24, including one child. All of them are receiving appropriate medical treatment.
The State Emergency Service confirmed that one person had been killed and reported that their units had rescued over 40 people while responding to the aftermath.
The most severe consequences were recorded in the Desnianskyi district . A person died in a fire that broke out in a block of apartments between the fourth and seventh floors. The State Emergency Service workers rescued 14 residents from the building, including a child, and freed another person from under the rubble. A fire broke out on the 6th floor at another address in the same district, where 9 people were rescued and a further 50 were evacuated.
Firefighters extinguished fires in two apartments of a five-storey building in the Dniprovskyi district and rescued 17 people. The 18th and 20th floors of another high-rise were also damaged and a fire covering 200 sq m broke out in wooden buildings on the grounds of a sports complex.
A missile struck a high-rise residential building in the Podilskyi district at the level of the 14th floor, from which 13 people were rescued.
Debris struck a nine-storey residential building in the Obolonskyi district , causing fires on the sixth to eighth floors over an area of around 100 sq m. Emergency workers rescued one person and extinguished the blaze.
Firefighters put out a fire on the roof and the fourth floor of a residential building in the Solomianskyi district . Twenty people were rescued.
A residential building was hit at the level of the sixth floor in the Sviatoshynskyi district . Apartments on the 18th floor caught fire in a nearby 22-storey building.
Debris fell on the grounds of a hospital in the Holosiivskyi district . A 15-square-metre fire in a building was extinguished at another address.
A fire broke out on school grounds in the Darnytskyi district and on an open area in the Shevchenkivskyi district .

Background:
- Before the attack, an air-raid warning was issued across Ukraine after Russian MiG-31K fighter jets – carriers of Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles – took off, along with many attack drones.
- At 00:42, Ukraine's Air Force warned of high-speed targets heading towards Kyiv. At 00:57, they reported launches of ballistic missiles from Russia's Bryansk Oblast towards the Ukrainian capital.
