It is currently impossible to deliver humanitarian assistance to the cities of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast, and civilians are relying solely on help from the military.
Source: Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, during the national joint 24/7 newscast
Quote: "The enemy destroys our civilian population every day. It is impossible to reach the people who remain there. We cannot deliver water, humanitarian aid, or medicine. Only our defenders are helping the civilians who have stayed in Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk. The situation there is the most difficult."
Details: Filashkin said 1,253 people remain in Pokrovsk and 1,350 in Myrnohrad.
Background:
- Russian forces have been pushing into Pokrovsk since at least 6 November, moving in on motorcycles and pickup trucks and deploying mortars in the city. Sources told Ukrainska Pravda that attempts by Ukrainian special forces units to mop up the city were delayed and did not change the balance of forces in the city.
- On 11 November, the Air Assault Forces said that Russian troops had intensified their efforts to infiltrate Pokrovsk from the south, and more than 300 Russian soldiers were present in the city.
- On 10 November, it was reported that the Russians had increased the number of assaults on positions of Ukraine's defence forces in the Pokrovsk agglomeration in Donetsk Oblast. The fiercest fighting in Pokrovsk was taking place in the industrial zone.
