Quote: "We are sure that we are on the road to peace and as peacemakers we need to make it happen."
Details: When asked whether peace in Ukraine is possible within a year, Dmitriev replied: "I believe so".
He also called for cooperation between the United States, Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world's largest holders of natural resources, claiming such collaboration would make the world safer.
"People are right now focused on the regional conflict that exists around Russia but we do not want it to escalate into a bigger conflict. And for that we have to do better than we have been doing, not worse," Dmitriev said.
Background:
- On 24 October, Dmitriev arrived in the United States for "official" talks following the introduction of sanctions against Russia's oil sector and the cancellation of the planned summit between Putin and US President Donald Trump.
- Meanwhile in the US, Dmitriev claimed that Russia, the United States and Ukraine are "close to a diplomatic solution" to end the Russo-Ukrainian war.
- He also told Fox News and CNN that a solution to the war in Ukraine can be found "pretty quickly" if three issues that are important to Russia are taken into account.
- On 26 October, Dmitriev said that during his visit to the United States, he had conveyed Putin's position on the futility of pressuring Russia.
