Details: Investigators found that the man arrived in Ukraine in January 2024. He initially conducted training sessions for service members in the city of Mykolaiv and later worked with a border guard unit.
At the end of September 2024, after his work as an instructor was over, he moved to Odesa, where he established contact with a representative of the Russian secret service and agreed to provide military-related information in exchange for money.
The Prosecutor General's Office reported that in May 2025, he passed on the coordinates of sites where Ukrainian units were deployed, photographs of a training facility, and details about service members that enabled them to be identified.
Furthermore, an analysis of his correspondence confirmed that he had carried out other tasks for the Russian secret service.
The suspect collected intelligence on facilities in Odesa, discussed the potential use of explosive devices, and attempted to gain access to the command of military units. He received US$6,000 for one of these tasks.
On 27 October, the man was served with a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorised dissemination of data about the defence forces under martial law).
On 29 October, at the request of a prosecutor at the Prosecutor General's Office, he was remanded in custody without the right to bail.
