“We have probably another $2 billion or more to bring in and in the next several months. And we fully expect that that will be done here very soon,” U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker told Bloomberg. The ambassador emphasized that next year the main goal for PURL is to raise $12 to $15 billion “that are needed to buy the critical armaments needed by Ukraine to defend themselves and to continue this fight at the front line.”“I think this is another example of Europe stepping up, of our NATO allies here on the continent, stepping up and supporting Ukraine in the defense ultimately of the European continent,” Whitaker added. He also stressed that Moscow must come to the negotiating table and that “it is time to end this war.”On October 15, it was reported that the fifth package under the PURL mechanism is already being prepared. It will involve the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine, funded by the Baltic countries and Finland.
