Volodymyr Horbach, Executive Director of the Institute for the Transformation of Northern Eurasia, stated this on Espreso TV."The situation now is that all of us, along with the Europeans and the Russians, are fighting over what exactly to call the 'Trump plan,' because Trump is currently acting on the world stage as a global distributor of peace, a supplier of deals, a peace dealer, so to speak. And no settlement can happen without him, so to get him interested, you need to name this settlement plan after him. And then the chances will sharply, sharply increase. So, the Russians are pulling such a trick. They are now saying that in Alaska, when they spoke with Trump in the absence of Wittkopf and Rubio—well, and Lavrov, of course, was present with Putin and other members of the Russian Federation—they claim they told Donald Trump at the time that: 'Wittkopf came to Moscow and told us, explained these points: one, two, three, what to do with Ukraine, with the war.' That is, they supposedly referred to Wittkopf as the source, so it could be called the Trump plan. But what's interesting is that Donald Trump and the entire American delegation did not confirm that this was their plan. They said, 'We need to think, talk to the Europeans,' and so on. And we know how that ended. Neither Ukraine nor the European Union accepted these demands," he said. This means that among those demands were unacceptable ones. For example, the voluntary withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Donetsk region."Perhaps there were others. But we cannot restore this one for sure, that this is the Russian negotiating position. This is how they see their peace plan and call it Trump's peace plan. And Trump knew nothing about it at first. Not knowing about it, he decided to check whether this 'Trump plan' would be accepted in principle by the other side or not. So, at the moment, this is the situation on the opposite side: the Ukrainians are now developing another plan of their own, which they will also obviously call either the Trump plan or some kind of joint plan. It seems there are supposed to be 12 points, and the initiative was voiced by the British Prime Minister Starmer at a meeting of this coalition of the resolute last week. And today, President Zelenskyy also confirmed that within a week or two, 10 days, they will be working on this plan, although Zelenskyy does not believe that Putin will agree to implement it. And the key thesis of this plan of ours, so to speak, will be the first point - a ceasefire on the front line. Which the Russians do not actually agree to, but they will be forced or persuaded to do so for a long time," he noted. At the same time, Volodymyr Horbach believes that Donald Trump's own plan is simple and that it is not a matter of principle for him what the parties agree on or what the details will be."But the main thing is to have this 'ceasefire' point. And at that moment, Donald Trump will declare himself the winner, the peacemaker, that he has succeeded, stopped the war. Give me the Nobel Prize, the Nobel Prize next year, nominate me, and so on. Something similar to the Israeli-Palestinian issue in Gaza, where the first point is a ceasefire, a hostage exchange. Well, and then it's unknown what comes next, then somehow it will work itself out. This is the approach, well, the real, true approach of Donald Trump. Therefore, I am not very optimistic right now in expecting any more radical actions from the American government. They imposed the first sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil. And we are, well, a little inspired by this decision, expecting some other steps from Donald Trump that could be interpreted as positive for us, but I want to warn Ukrainians that the next steps may be coercion, so to speak, to peace for both sides: both us and the Russians from the American side," he believes. The analyst stressed that Ukraine will definitely not like the terms of this coercion."We will definitely like the end of the war, I think for most Ukrainians it will be a serious relief. I don't know if it will be temporary, perhaps temporary, but some psycho-emotional relief should come after this. But the conditions for this will be American conditions, imposed on both sides, as they think they can impose them. And we will definitely not like these conditions. As Trump said: 'Both sides must cease fire, declare their victory, meaning both have won, each in their own way, and go home.' This is almost a direct quote. In fact, this is Donald Trump's vision for the end of this war," added Volodymyr Horbach.
