Vadym Kushnikov, a columnist for the Militarnyi portal, spoke about this on Espreso TV."In my opinion, the Burevestnik missile is a manifestation of Russian gigantomania. In retrospect, similar projects with a nuclear-ramjet engine were developed back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, during a boom in nuclear technology development. However, at the time, both the Soviet Union and the U.S. abandoned these developments in favor of, for example, missile weaponry," commented the Militarnyi portal columnist.According to him, its principle of operation is that of an unshielded nuclear reactor, which will leave a trail of radioactive contamination as it flies."Such technologies are linked to a propaganda and political aspect, to showcase 'no analogues' technology. On the other hand, both in Western countries and among our European partners, developments are underway that can perform the same tasks that the Russians assign to this 'no analogues' missile just as effectively," Kushnikov summarized. The test of the Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile was conducted on September 21, and it allegedly covered 14,000 km, remaining in the air for about 15 hours.U.S. President Donald Trump reacted to Vladimir Putin's statement about Russia's test of the Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile, urging the Russian dictator to focus on ending the war against Ukraine.
