We strongly support President Trump’s position that the fighting should stop immediately, and that the current line of contact should be the starting point of negotiations. We remain committed to the principle that international borders must not be changed by force,” the statement reads.Zelenskyy and European leaders also accused Russia of prolonging the war and lacking a genuine interest in peace.“Russia’s stalling tactics have shown time and time again that Ukraine is the only party serious about peace. We can all see that Putin continues to choose violence and destruction,” the signatories emphasized.Additionally, EU leaders stressed the need to increase economic pressure on Moscow, particularly on its defense industry, until the Kremlin is ready for peace agreements. Among the priorities is using Russia’s frozen assets to support Ukraine.“We are developing measures to use the full value of Russia’s immobilised sovereign assets so that Ukraine has the resources it needs,” the document states.At the end of this week, Zelenskyy and EU leaders will meet during the European Council sessions and within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing to discuss next steps and coordinate support for Ukraine.UK Defence Secretary John Healey has stated that the country is preparing for the possible deployment of its troops to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement between Kyiv and Moscow.
