The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that repair work has begun at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to restore damaged off-site power lines after four weeks without electricity supply.

Details: IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that the repairs have become possible following the establishment of local ceasefire zones, which have allowed specialists to access the site safely.
Grossi stressed that restoring the external power supply is crucial for the plant's nuclear safety and security, as the facility has been operating on backup diesel generators for an extended period.
The IAEA noted that both sides of the conflict have cooperated constructively with the agency to implement the complex repair plan.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been under Russian occupation since 2022, and the IAEA has repeatedly warned of severe nuclear safety risks posed by ongoing fighting around the site.
