This was reported by Reuters.Ukraine has been targeting not only oil refineries but also pumping stations, storage facilities, and export terminals. The refinery located in Tyumen is the most distant target hit in this campaign — nearly 1,992 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Some Russian plants have been struck multiple times.A Ukrainian government source told Reuters that the purpose of these strikes is to create shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel inside Russia, complicating the movement of occupying forces at the front.Drone attacks on Russian refineries have already disrupted fuel supplies in several regions, and gasoline prices in Russia have risen by about 10%.Ukraine’s main challengeUkraine mainly uses Liutyi and FP-1 drones, capable of flying over 1,000 kilometers.According to Reuters, each attack includes the use of decoy drones launched first to deplete Russian air defenses.“Ukraine’s main challenge is scale. Though it is constantly increasing production, it doesn’t have enough drones to routinely overwhelm Russia’s air defenses, while Russia is also improving its interception rate, meaning a smaller proportion are reaching their targets,” the report notes. To overcome enemy electronic warfare systems, Ukraine employs optical guidance technology: the drone photographs the terrain below and compares it with preloaded maps, making jamming impossible.Reuters sources also confirmed that Ukraine receives U.S. intelligence support for conducting deep strikes.
