According to Kyiv Post, Trump’s plan is not only to bolster Ukraine’s defenses but also to push European allies — particularly Germany — to provide their own long-range systems, including the Taurus missiles. Sources told the outlet the White House views the Tomahawk delivery as “a necessary catalyst” to break European hesitation.Trump openly hinted at the strategy, saying on Sunday, “If this war is not going to get settled, I’m going to send them Tomahawks. The Tomahawk is an incredible weapon, very offensive. And honestly, Russia does not need that.”Kyiv Post noted that Trump intends to raise the issue directly with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who announced he would discuss “joint efforts to help end the war in Ukraine.”The potential announcement could coincide with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington on Friday. Zelenskyy said the trip will focus on “air defense and long-range capabilities aimed at exerting pressure on Russia for the sake of peace.”Analysts told Kyiv Post that the possible transfer of Tomahawks — capable of striking targets up to 1,550 miles away — would be a calculated escalation. Glen Howard, President of the Saratoga Foundation, said, “If the US provides Ukraine with Tomahawks, it would undoubtedly increase pressure on Germany to send Taurus missiles.”The report also highlighted that Zelenskyy’s delegation will meet U.S. defense and energy companies to explore deeper cooperation, including participation in Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome for America” missile defense initiative. The renewed urgency follows one of Russia’s most intense aerial campaigns since the full-scale invasion. Kyiv Post cited humanitarian organizations warning that the strikes on Ukraine’s power grid are designed to “create a massive humanitarian disaster” by cutting off heat and electricity to millions of civilians ahead of winter.
