Ukraine allocates additional UAH 1.5 billion to protect energy infrastructure in frontline regions

The president announced the decisions on his Telegram channel.During the meeting, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of strengthening energy infrastructure in frontline areas. The government has allocated an additional UAH 1.5 billion (over USD 36 million) to support this effort and has created a reserve of equipment for the rapid restoration of power supply, which will be gradually increased.“We also discussed the situation in the gas sector, the buildup of gas reserves, and ensuring supply for the population. We agreed that in the near future, the Government will adopt a resolution on maintaining a fixed price for natural gas for household consumers. A decision has also already been made to impose a moratorium on disconnecting consumers from energy supply in frontline communities,” Zelenskyy said.The president also instructed officials to prepare mechanisms for increasing teachers’ salaries next year and to report on measures to support internally displaced persons.“I expect Government officials to report on both of these issues by the end of this week,” Zelenskyy added.On October 6, Zelenskyy convened a meeting of the Energy Council, warning local authorities that failure to resolve urgent issues in the energy sector could result in dismissals.
